ལོ་གསར་ལུ་བཀྲིས་བདེ་ལེགས
The “Lomba” or “becoming one year older” is another common festival in Haa and paro . It is observed from the 29th of the 10th of lunar calendar. This festival was celebrated as New Years festival in olden times. This is a time when families gather in their village. where people in groups visit houses and singing a rhyme “Lolay Lolay”. They thank god for the good year and give best wishes for the coming year. Other than Lolay another interesting part is the “Haap Hoentey”(Buckwheat dumplings). This is a special dish made from buckwheat flour stuffed with vegetables. This dish is original to Haaps. They also distribute the dumplings among families and friends. People greet each other “Lolay” which means “good new year”
