Our country is know to outside country as a Bhutan.This name was derived from Sanskrit and have two different orgine so. Firstly,the name is derived from Bhu-uttan meaning Highland. Secondly , name would mean BHOT- STAN. BHOT in short for Bhotey,the people and STRANGE means place or land.Bhot-sthan later became Bhotan and then Bhotan, as called by British around 19th century and gradually evolved into Bhutan.
